WORDSWORTH BARN

Idyllic Self Catering Cottage

We welcome you to come and join us... unwind and capture these idyllic surroundings, and the fabulous scenery!

Or maybe you would like to indulge yourself in a romantic Winter short break at Wordsworth barn - a stunning barn conversion in the heart of the Lake District. Our beautiful, 5 star gold awarded accommodation has been converted using stylish accessories and local materials - such as Kirkstone slate floors, Herdwick wool carpets and individual art from local craftspeople. When converting this former barn and stable we believe every element of your stay has been catered for.

Wordsworth Barn has a superb location in the picturesque Lake District village of Patterdale, on the shores of Ullswater and was once owned by the well known poet William Wordsworth, it offers stylish modern accommodation - a real home from home.

The famous Ullswater Steamers operate between Glenridding Pier and Pooley Bridge, and attractions such as Dalemain House, Aira Force arboretum and falls, the Kirkstone Pass and Rheged are within a short drive.

Patterdale is a popular base for touring, being in the central Lakes, with popular centres such as: Penrith, Keswick, Windermere and Ambleside - all being within a 30 minute drive.

With the towering Helvellyn close by, and the Barn nestled under Place Fell, just around the corner you find the start of the High Street range, and the famous Ullswater steamer walk along the Lake shore, all offering excellent walking from the front door and routes for all abilities. You can also follow in Alfred Wainwright’s footsteps – at least 3 of his walks pass through the village.

Our 1st visit of hopefully many more to come. We've had a relaxing holiday because the weather hasn't been great, but it didn't mind because everything we need is here.

Tina & Graham

What a lovely place to stay, so comfy and with everything you need for a walking holiday. Loved it - wished we could have booked for a fortnight.
